All single facers suffer to a greater or lesser extent from vibration problems, especially at two critical speeds around 120 mts/min. And 180 mts/min.
This results in poor quality boxboard at these speeds, forcing machine speed to be reduced below the critical level, so that the corrugating machine is under-used.
The IDD pressure roll is designed to absorb vibrations and avoid roll marks on the board.
It can be installed profitably even on machines with pressure rolls which do not suffer much from vibration, as the resulting increase in working speed and improvement in the quality of boxboard produced at the critical speed means a short pay-back time on the investment required.
